Matthews Cellars 2006 Claret Release Party

Friday night (July 31st.) Matthews had a release party and were pouring their 2004, 2005 and their new 2006 Claret.

The 2005, which I believe is more Cabernet Sauvignon dominant: had a lite oak, chocolate and cassis aroma, very full bodied, and had a great depth of flavors, with more cassis, dark fruits, blackberry, and more fruit foraward that the 06′, $25. Drink this one now!

2006:  More Merlot driven, had mocha aromas, mocha and a light cassis flavor, with medium high acidity and higher tannis. I would age this one for a few years. $30

Both are fabulous!
