My Wine Tasting with Antoine
After all these years of living only 15 minutes away from Chateau Ste. Michelle I finally decided to take a tour with fellow wine lover Antoine Pin. We were able to look through a large window their bottling equipment and saw some extremely large tanks. Didn’t see much else equipment wise, but they did let us sample some Chardonnay, Merlot and Muscat. The winner here hands down was the Muscat! A total grapefruit bomb!
Next on the trip was to Elsom and Celaeno Winery. My favorites were:
From Elsom: 2007 Red Wine, Columbia Valley: Notes of cherry, raspberry and chocolate are prevalent on the nose. The palate is loaded with blackberry and baking spices with a silky enduring texture. 50% Malbec, 40% Cab Sauv, 10% Syrah. Aged 22 months in 100% French oak chateau Bordeaux barrels. $28 per Bottle.
And from Celaeno Winery: Both Barrels, Yakima Valley ’07 Syrah. Only 50 cases made! As hedonistic as a wine can get!
For our next stop, and get this – Antoine’s first trip to the Warehouse district! First we visited Smasne, Gard and Alma Terra’s tasting room, because they have some many fabulous offerings! Our favorites included:
2006 Konner Ray Red Wine – Horse Heaven Hills – $38 and 2007 Farm Boy Red – Columbia Valley. A Cabernet Sauv., Syrah, Malbec and Sangiovese blend – $15.
