Slipstream Shiraz/Grenache 2006

At the Grape choice last week I had a chance to sample a delicious Shiraz/Grenache blend from McLaren Vale, Australia. A good balance of lively berry flavors, spice, acid and oak. At $10 a bottle it’s a terrific deal!

The Grape Choice

Torbreck, Barossa Valley

Esquin featured Torbreck from the Barossa Valley (which is in South Australia)  last Thursday (Aug. 13th).

Some of my favorites are as follows:

Woodcutter’s Semillon. Had aroma’s of citrus with flavors of almond, pineapple, peach and mineral notes. I really enjoyed this one and I am not partial to Semillon for the most part. $18.

Grenache Shiraz Mataro. Big berry flavor, blackberry and cherries, mineral and spice. Very balanced with adity just right and tannins. $21.
